ULEZ expansion: Green transport surges in popularity among Londoners

Greener transport options have grown in popularity among Londoners according to a new ULEZ survey conducted by Bikesure.

The survey asked the opinions of over 1,000 members of the general public on greener transport alternatives, finding that 72.2 per cent have considered changing vehicles as a result of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).

Furthermore, 36.1 per cent of Londoners intend to use public transport, whilst 20.1 per cent of Londoners aim to switch to either an electric or low-emission vehicle, and 9.3 per cent will opt for a bike.

Since the ULEZ was imposed, 2.9 per cent of the respondents has actually got rid of their vehicle. The borough of Wandsworth had the highest proportion of people who got rid of their vehicles, with 11.1 per cent changing from four wheels to two.

‘With EV infrastructure across London and the UK growing rapidly to meet consumer demand, Bikesure is encouraged to see more Londoners than in previous years considering buying EVs whether that be on two wheels or four, or already committing to greener transport alternatives,’ Rob Balls, underwriting manager at Bikesure, commented.
