WCRAQ does outsource some of our contact and media management functions to other companies who send out conference brochures and information on our behalf and we strictly forbid them from using your information in any capacity other than to contact you at our request.

What we collect

We may collect the following information:

  • name and job title.
  • contact information including email address.
  • demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests.

How we use cookies

A cookie is a small file which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, the file is added, and the cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences.

We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and improve our website in order to tailor it to customer needs. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.

Overall, cookies help us provide you with a better website, by enabling us to monitor which pages you find useful and which you do not. A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

You can choose to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website.

Sharing of information

WCRAQ does not sell or rent user information to anyone. From time to time, we agree with other likeminded organisations to write to some of each other’s supporters, for the mutual benefit of both.

The accuracy of your individual identifying information is important to WCRAQ. If you change email address or any of the other information we hold is inaccurate or out of date, please email our Data Protection Officer – John Lancaster BEM at [email protected] or write to us at Huddersfield Media Centre, 7 Northumberland Street, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, HD1 1RL, for the attention of the Data Protection Officer. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

WCRAQ is committed to taking reasonable steps to protect the individual identifying information that you provide to us. Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, WCRAQ cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.
