Alastair Lewis, Professor of Atmospheric Chemistry, University of York/ Director UKRI National Centre for Atmospheric Science

Alastair is an experimental scientist who has studied the composition of the atmosphere and the impacts of pollution from polar regions to megacities, open oceans to tropical forests. His work has been recognised with the Royal Society of Chemistry Prizes for Environment, Energy and Sustainability, Silver Medal for Analytical Science and Lord Lewis prize for science policy. He is currently Chair of the Defra Air Quality Expert Group (AQEG) and the Department for Transport Science Advisory Council. He is working with UNEP to develop a Guide on Ambient Air Quality Legislation.
