James Trimmer, Director of Planning and Development, Port of London Authority

James is responsible for initiating and implementing the PLA’s approach to strategic marine and terrestrial planning, infrastructure (including as the Project Director for both the Thames Tideway Tunnel and Tilbury2 NSIP schemes) development and transport issues throughout the tidal River Thames and its riparian hinterland. A Chartered Town Planner and Chartered Surveyor, he is the Authority’s lead for developing and facilitating inland freight and passenger transport. He is also corporately responsible for the Authority’s statutory consenting of river works and dredging under the Port of London Act 1968 (as amended).  In his previous role at the PLA, he was responsible for developing the approach and subsequent implementation of the PLA’s approach to climate change adaptation and its commitment to be Net Zero by 2040.
