Tyre-related emissions are a growing issue within the field of transportation which without progressive action has the potential to deliver significant negative impacts to human-health and the environment. The current trajectory of vehicle technologies towards electric vehicles which are typically heavier than internal combustion engines will likely result in an increase in tyre-related emissions. In a time when commitments towards electric vehicles are becoming increasingly ambitious, it is important that we think holistically with regards to the full range of negative externalities associated with future transport technologies. Addressing tyre related emissions will be key to minimising the impacts of future transportation technologies.
